Lime Kiln State Park, beauty in the form of a lighthouse

Image
Lime Kiln State Park Lighthouse with a backdrop of pure beauty.  My favorite tree in the whole world. Madrona. Madrone. Arbutus if you're Canadian. Arbutus menziesii if you're a scientist. Orca Research Station at Lime Kiln State Park. I just like the Orca sign. It reminds me of my dad's woodworking. Good vibes.

San Juan County Park, how many times have I been here? Countless.

Breath-taking view from San Juan County Park. How many times have I set foot here. Hmmm, I really think it's innumerable. My soul soothing place.  I remember when this gnarled stump was a huge healthy tree. And I don't know when I've seen the grass so green here! Oh, yes, during the filming of "Practical Magic" in 1998. :)   This campground is always so full of memories for me. If it's not me and my family with the Spadas, then it's the 8 years of camping trips I took my students and their families on. Bliss, no matter how I look at it.  This friend was too cute. I had to do a black and white as a throw back to my dad. <3 How I always see SJCP in my mind. Beyond beautiful.

Well, here we are. San Juan Island, 2018

There aren't enough words to describe how much I (well, we, my husband included) love the San Juans. Here's a classic sight - a ferry just about to cross in front of the dazzling winter sun light. Beautiful.

My aunt and uncle's back yard take 2 (well actually this was take 1 and the other post of their back yard was take 2, but that doesn't really matter)

This owl is so cheerful but so "The Wheelers from Ozma of Oz" at the same time. I look at it and smile and then shudder the next second.   I love this worn turtle. He keeps at life, no matter what. Playing with focal points is so fun. And green.  I love the light and contrast in this photo. I am drawn to red often.  I like the riverbed with the fallen leaves. Nature, just nature.  I love the lines on this plant.  This guy makes me so happy. He doesn't mind the pretty yellow leaves around him at all.  Tiny things are awesome. I love this tiny world.

I couldn't believe I got this shot. It was gone in a second.

Snapped in a second from the passenger seat of our RV on the way up to West Beach Resort on Orcas Island, 2018.

A typical but unbelievably beautiful scene in the San Juans. I got this shot while on a whale watch boat during part of the San Juan Island Weekend Family Trip I took my students on in June, 2012. This one of a kind family-weekend trip took place at the end of the school year for 8 years in a row.

What a beautiful forever-scene. Love you Dad.

Friday Harbor Marina, I can't stop taking pictures of you!
