How many different shades of green?

Too many to count, too many to capture (in this one trip at least!)

Scales on trees like scales on snakes. Nature is pretty clever.

Just plain luxurious looking. So squishy.

More squish, more color variation. (For the record, I did not squish any of this moss. Just admired it and am going with my previous experiences of moss being squishy and delightful to touch.)

Yup, more scales. Just more pretty in my opinion.
